Matt Fultz: El Matador

by scrappyv14 on Jun.15, 2010, under Swan Falls, Videos

Although I usually try and make this site about rock climbing, occasionally someone will send me some photos or video of themselves scrambling around on rocks…or even worse, just hiking. Nobody wants to watch vids of people hiking, alas here is Matt Fultz hiking around out at Swan Falls:

Doug was Here

by scrappyv14 on Apr.12, 2010, under Climbidaho.com Blog, Photos, Swan Falls, Videos

Tammy and I have been making quite a few trips out to Swan Falls recently. The weather has been perfect if not a little on the warm side. On our last trip out there I noticed a small and awkwardly positioned roof during our warm-up. After about an hour of cleaning and refining beta both Tammy and I were able to send the problem, naming it Doug was Here. Check out this photo and vid of the problem. It would be great to see a few more people send this thing before the heat hits Swan for the summer.

Earlier this week Tammy and I met up with Sarah Durney and Ty Taber(?) out at Swan and had a great day of climbing. Although it was really windy we all had a great time hanging out…oh yeah and the girls crushed. Here is the vid of Sarah sending Spice Girls Arete:

And here are a few photos from the rest of the day:

Swan Falls: The Farmstead

by scrappyv14 on Mar.30, 2009, under Climbidaho.com Blog, Photos, Swan Falls

Tammy and I floated across the raging Snake River today to a new area we are calling The Farmstead due to the old farm right next to the boulders. I believe Scott Bernstrom and Dale Snyder may have climbed here sometime ago although I am not sure. Here are a couple photos of Tammy making a couple FA’s or FFA’s at least.

3rd Ascent

by scrappyv14 on Mar.24, 2009, under Climbidaho.com Blog, Reynolds Creek, Swan Falls, Videos

Ok so last week I promised video of 3rd ascents of both El Matador and Absolution. Amazingly Randy Hill sent both these problems in a day. He had put 2 previous days work into Absolution and sent El Matador in a day. Sick.

Toro – V7

by scrappyv14 on Mar.19, 2009, under Climbidaho.com Blog, Swan Falls, Videos

Apparently my blown tendon pulley is good for you. Here is another post of Craig Hust, this time flashing Toro (V7) which starts on the same undercling jug as El Matador but trends right up a blunt prow whereas El Matador heads up and left.

El Matador

It seems two of the best problems in the valley are about to see their third ascent. Here are a few photos of Craig Hurst on El Matador (V12, maybe V11 with new beta???) and Toro (V7 – flash).
