Ibex Vids

Here is the first installment of Ibex vids. This one is of myself climbing Fister at the Corral. Although it is not the best problem at Ibex, the rock quality is very good, the movement unique and it’s special to me because of the long history I have had with the problem. I first tried Fister back in (or around?) 2000 when I was barely breaking into the V8/9 grades. Even though it was over my head at the time I felt that I was very close to sending and ended up making a few trips to try and send the problem over the following couple years. Returning this year (for the first time since 2002) it was definitely on my list of must sends. It’s always great to see progression but I have to say I had to work for this one a little more than I thought I was going to have to. After a couple hours work the sun was setting, I had given up on the problem and cracked open a beer to celebrate the already successful day. Suddenly, after saying “this is my last go” about a dozen times, Bockino sent after hitting the very slick fist jam perfect. His send fueled my psych and I decided to give it one more attempt:

If you’re going to have to wear a shirt, that’s a good one. Looking most dandy young fella. Almost musical.

I’m headed to Utah for spring break March 26. I’ll be in touch for some fashion pointers.
